NCI AdNode Coordinator

Manages NCI AdNode system and clients.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact person for AdNode clients ( about 25 people ) and those that are interested in advertising with NCI
  • Answer questions/explain things ( costs, how AdNode basically works etc.) to new clients
  • Sell slots to new sponsors, requieres to review the clients spreadsheet at GoogleDocs and add upcoming sponsors to the waiting list, if there are not enough slots left
  • Contact and inform interested residents if there are slots available
  • Help to prepare ad-textures and other ad-content as needed
  • Check mails at least once a day if you're not in SL and see if you got an AdNode related IM
  • Add new sponsors to the spreadsheet including their ad-contents
  • Review the spreadsheet twice a week and mark clients and their ads that are close to expire
  • Inform clients if their ad will expire soon by sending them an IM and also leaving them a notecard that lists their current status ( renewals, costs per slot, etc. )
  • Add new clients ads to the in-world server and edit the “Ads” notecard in the server that's read by the script, so it knows how to calculate and shift ads
  • Edit the Servers ConfigNotecard at GoogleDocs and update its list accordingly to the changes that have been made to the servers “Ads” notecard
  • Keep clients ads in the inventory as backup
  • Keep backups of the latest scripts, send another backup to Shilling
  • Watch the networks status indicated by the billboards sponsor label color
  • Fix issues if possible, reset and reboot the in-world server
  • Check if the servers are online
  • Contact Garn if there's a script side problem
  • Make arrangements with Garn how to improve things
  • Contact Yuki in order to reset the click-rate tables
  • Post a news on the blog if you reset the stat-page etc.
  • Inform clients about major changes through group notice

Skills

  • To be and stay friendly ( even if you have to deal with an upset person )
  • Be open and friendly to unknown people
  • Some skills to have and lead a sales conversation
  • Patience ( you may have to explain things all over again, ppl sometimes do not read the notecards and ask for “Live help”, inform up to 15 ppl, one after another at the same day, that their ad will expire soon ( renewal reminders ) )
  • Have some time, AdNode sometimes needs two hours of attention ( spreadsheet, server stuff & renewal reminders, usually on weekends, about 15 minutes up to 1 hour on Wednesdays and Fridays ), interrupting the work and come back later is bad while updating the server
  • Basic building skills
  • Social (communication) skills
  • Organization talent ( to time and work off tasks in line without a break )
  • Basic math skills ( calculate costs, apply discounts etc. )
  • Honesty and loyalty
  • Some expierence with Excel or similar applications
  • Straight Reasoning (if the network goes nuts, investigate any kind of issues that may appear)
  • Experience with Gimp, PSP, PS or similar
  • Basic network knowledge recommended but not requiered
  • Some primitive scripting skills may help in some situations
